Home Charging

Where Can You Charge an EV Locally?
Bergen County drivers have a combination of DC fast charging and Level 2 charging available around the eastern side of the county. Charger availability, connector compatibility, pricing, and station status can change, so always verify the station in your vehicle or charging app before relying on it.
Charging Along the Route 9W Corridor
Public charging is available directly along Sylvan Avenue. Charging-station data currently identifies DC fast charging at 374 Sylvan Avenue on the Cadillac dealership property, along with Level 2 charging nearby on the same corridor.
Always confirm live availability, connector compatibility, access, and pricing before making a charging trip.
DC Fast Charging Near Main Street
A public DC fast-charging location at 154 Main Street currently provides four CCS fast-charging ports. Fort Lee also has a growing collection of Level 2 charging locations around municipal parking, hotels, and residential properties.
High-demand fast-charging sites can become occupied. Checking real-time station status before arriving can save time.
Waterfront Destination Charging
Edgewater’s apartment, retail and municipal parking environment includes several Level 2 charging locations. Public charging is currently listed at 1167 River Road, with additional charging available at other waterfront and residential properties.
Level 2 charging is generally better suited to longer parking periods than a quick top-up.
Charge Before You Need It
Do not assume you’ll find public EV fast charging directly along every section of the Palisades Interstate Parkway. If your route takes you north through the Palisades, Englewood Cliffs and Fort Lee are practical places to check your battery level and charging options before continuing.

Cadillac says the myCadillac mobile app provides access to more than 250,000 public chargers across the United States and Canada and can help drivers locate compatible stations while planning a route.
Supported public networks include providers such as Tesla Supercharger, EVgo, Electrify America, ChargePoint, and IONNA, although the exact connector or adapter needed depends on your Cadillac model and model year.
Newer Cadillacs and NACS
Cadillac states that a native NACS charging port is standard on the 2026 OPTIQ and all 2027 model-year Cadillac EVs. That simplifies access to compatible NACS charging without requiring a DC adapter.
Earlier CCS-Equipped Cadillac EVs
Compatible earlier Cadillac EVs can access supported NACS fast charging with an approved adapter and the appropriate public-charging setup.
Look at Live Availability, Not Just a Map Pin
A charger appearing on a map does not necessarily mean a stall is available when you arrive. Use your Cadillac’s navigation tools or charging app to check compatibility and current station information before committing to a stop.
A Fort Lee High-Rise and a Tenafly Garage Need Different EV Plans
“Can I charge at home?” sounds like a simple question until you compare the housing styles found across Bergen County.
A homeowner with a private garage in the Northern Valley may control the parking space and electrical panel. A condominium owner in Fort Lee may have an assigned garage space hundreds of feet from the building’s electrical room. Those ownership situations require different planning.
Home Level 2 Charging Is Usually the Starting Point
For homeowners with a driveway or private garage, a professionally installed Level 2 charging solution can allow the Cadillac to charge while parked overnight.
Before buying equipment, a qualified installer should evaluate the electrical panel, available capacity, charger location, wiring distance, and the home’s ability to support the selected charging equipment.
The right setup depends on the Cadillac as well. Some vehicles can accept higher Level 2 charging rates than others, so installing the most powerful charger available does not automatically mean your particular EV will charge at that maximum rate.

GM PowerUp 2
A Level 2 home charger offering up to 11.5 kW of charging output. This can be a practical everyday solution for owners primarily charging overnight.
GM Energy PowerShift Charger
The PowerShift Charger can provide up to 19.2 kW of output with a compatible vehicle and home electrical system and supports GM Energy’s vehicle-to-home ecosystem on compatible EVs.
Vehicle-to-Home Capability
Certain V2H-capable Cadillac EVs can work with compatible GM Energy equipment to provide backup power to a properly equipped home. Vehicle compatibility, home equipment, installation and utility interconnection requirements apply.
What EV Incentives Actually Exist in New Jersey Right Now?
EV incentives have changed significantly, so older articles and dealership pages can be misleading. Here’s the current picture as of September 2026. Note: New Jersey’s separate Clean Fleet EV and EV Charging Program is currently paused to new applications because its funding has been fully allocated. This does not mean the consumer Charge Up New Jersey, In-Home EV Charger or Multi-Unit Dwelling programs are closed.
The Former Federal New Clean Vehicle Credit Has Ended for New Acquisitions
The IRS states that the New Clean Vehicle Credit, Previously-Owned Clean Vehicle Credit, and Qualified Commercial Clean Vehicle Credit are not available for vehicles acquired after September 30, 2025. A shopper purchasing or leasing an EV in 2026 should therefore not assume the former federal clean-vehicle credit applies.
$1,500 for an Eligible EV
New Jersey’s FY27 Charge Up program currently provides a $1,500 point-of-sale incentive for qualifying New Jersey residents purchasing or leasing an eligible new battery-electric vehicle through a participating dealership. Program eligibility requirements apply.
Up to $4,000 Total for Prequalified Applicants
Income-qualified customers who prequalify before the vehicle transaction may receive a $4,000 total incentive under Charge Up+. Income limits, documentation requirements, and other program rules apply.
The Model Name Alone Does Not Determine Eligibility
Cadillac OPTIQ currently appears on New Jersey’s eligible-vehicle list. However, the program excludes vehicles with an MSRP above $55,000.
That means an eligible model name does not guarantee that every trim or configuration qualifies. Always verify the exact vehicle and current state program rules before relying on an incentive.
Up to $250 for a Qualifying Level 2 Charger
New Jersey currently offers an in-home EV charger incentive of up to $250 for qualifying residents purchasing an approved Level 2 charger that meets the program’s equipment and network requirements.
Incentive programs, funding, eligible vehicles, and requirements can change. Information above was verified in September 2026 and should not be interpreted as a guarantee of eligibility. Confirm current program rules before completing a vehicle transaction.
What New Jersey EV Taxes and Registration Actually Cost
New Jersey used to provide unusually favorable tax treatment for qualifying zero-emission vehicles. That is no longer the case.
6.625%
The former zero-emission vehicle sales-tax exemption was phased out. Since July 1, 2025, qualifying ZEV purchases, leases and rentals are subject to New Jersey’s full 6.625% Sales and Use Tax rate.
Current Annual ZEV Fee: $270
New Jersey imposes an additional annual fee on qualifying zero-emission vehicles. The fee began at $250 in July 2024 and increases by $10 annually under the current statutory schedule. For the July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027 period, that annual rate is $270.
New Vehicles Generally Receive Four-Year Registration
NJMVC states that new vehicles that have never been titled generally receive a four-year registration. For a qualifying new ZEV receiving four-year registration, the applicable additional ZEV fees for that registration period are collected at initial registration.
Registration Follows the Lease Term
NJMVC states that leased vehicles receive registration according to the length of the lease. The amount collected therefore depends on the lease term, vehicle, registration period and fee schedule in effect.
Ask for an Itemized Delivery Figure
Your exact amount will depend on the vehicle price or lease structure, registration term, title situation and other applicable charges. The most useful quote separates vehicle price, tax, title, base registration and the additional ZEV fee so you can see where each dollar is going.
Does Leasing Make More Sense for an EV?
It can for some drivers. EV technology, charging standards and available models continue to evolve, which can make a shorter vehicle cycle appealing. That does not automatically make leasing less expensive than financing.
You Want Newer Technology More Often
A shorter lease cycle can give you another decision point as battery, charging and vehicle technology changes.
Your Mileage Is Predictable
A lease is easier to plan when your commute and annual driving pattern fit comfortably inside the mileage allowance.
Incentive Rules Can Differ
New Jersey’s current Charge Up incentive can apply to eligible purchases or leases, but current FY27 rules require an eligible lease term of at least 36 months. Vehicle and customer eligibility requirements still apply.
Compare the Whole Transaction
Compare the monthly payment, term, mileage allowance, amount due at signing, tax, registration and available incentives rather than making the decision from one advertised payment.
